The Broughton Creek Mail, 2nd August 1906, quoting the Shoalhaven News, reported:

June 19, 1867. During a severe storm the J. G. Coleson a schooner of 70 tons, laden with cedar from the Tweed River, and bound for Sydney, was driven on the sand spit at the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, and became a total wreck. The vessel was owned by Mr G. Coleson, of Nowra.
